Description
I am not an expect in this category. The following is what is what I've learned through research, expert opinions, and one professional appraisal.Pair of circa 1920's Native American ornamental beadwork. I believe they are meant for footwear but I can't rule out some type of shoulder board.
I'm sure the beads are glass. They feel like glass against my teeth and they are cool to the touch. Also, they look more like glass than anything else. Please note there are two shades of green and two shades of yellow.
They are amazingly identical. I wouldn't be surprised if the exact same number of beads were used to make both.
The leather backs are coated with something that has an earthy molasses like smell. Also, it's crystallized like a dried sugary substance might look.
Both are 5" x 3".
Both are in excellent original condition. I cannot detect one missing or damaged bead. There is no fraying. There is some embedded dust/patina (see close-up pictures). Whoever made these was an expert and true artist. This pair displays exceptionally well.
My pictures don't always project the ideal image. I have serious problems with glare and lighting. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions, especially photo related ones.
Regarding combined shipping. In most cases, several pieces can be shipped in a single box. When this occurs, I will credit the purchaser's PayPal account any shipping difference. In-other-words, I charge exact shipping for same time multiple purchases. I cannot issue these credits until I've purchased the postage so it may take a day or two. I do this often. I have never had a discrepancy complaint. My customers are in very good hands.
