    Description

This auction is for a animal hide skin drum with paint.  The wood is a white wood and I have been told it is probably Birch or Aspin.  This is from an estate of an avid collector's estate.  The drum was purchased in the 1960's and the only information was that it is listed as Circia1880's American Indian drum.  I have had input that it is either Northeastern or New Mexico in origin - mostly due to the wood and paint.  The skin is thicker and my thoughts a tougher animal as Elk.  Please take those comments as is and please make you own determination as I am not a collector of this type of artifact.  The collector had a large amount of Plains, Anazasi and Northeasten Indian pieces so it seems to add with what I have been told.  It is hard to tell what the actual paintings are (I think buffalo or elk - my feeling elk - which is an opinion.  It is listed as an American Indian style to align with Ebay polices as I do not specifically know the tribe origin of the item.
The drum is approximately 12.5 by 5.5 as shown.  I'm leaning towards a Aspin type of wood, but again just a personal observation.  I can send additioanl pictures if required.  Buyer pays shipping and insurance.  Reasonable OBO considered.
